Is it true or is it an ugly rumor? Has the grande dame of food allergy stores gone out of business? Someone on Twitter said during the night "NO!!! Please RT for other food allergy people Miss Roben's / Allergy Grocer has gone out of business!!!"
I checked the website and it does not seem to work. Does anyone know what happened?

looking right now myself. can't find it. oh no!!!!!
I had the same problem yesterday. I was hoping my link just wasn't working. Any news?
I did hear from the owner today. Miss Roben's is closed for now, and they may possibly re-open. The future is not clear yet. Stay tuned--we should know more in the coming days. Fingers crossed.
Saw on another blog that AG closed due to being unprofitable. I do know of another site from Florida that is opening in a few weeks - and has similar products. Met the woman at a networking event. I believe the website is allergiesandme.com.
Good luck.
Thanks for your coment, Sarah!
Now I feel I have to "toot" my own horn--I too own an online allergy store, www.fabsnacks.com, the first specialty food and snack store focusing on food allergies in New England.
Solutions to Savor is an online retailer of specialty foods catering to people with food sensitivities. Coming soon we will be shipping nationwide! Please visit us at www.solutionstosavor.com to see our continually expanding list of products. Thanks!
I spoke with Cynthia Kupper last night, the president of GIG, and she said "yes" it is true that they closed.
I loved Miss Roben's. Unfortunately, the cost of shipping was twice that for fewer items compared to other online stores. I was looking through my receipts and I paid almost $20 shipping for mostly marshmallows and I'm only 2 states away! I'm still bummed out. Their own mixes and baking supplies are almost irreplaceable. I'm scrambling to find replacements.
Thanks for your comments, Erica, and Anonymouses! There certainly are a number of new stores for food allergies popping up everywhere, even I have one, but very few compare to Allergy Grocer. They had such as extensive range of products, and products for less common allergies. Judging by the emails I receive here at Food Allergy Buzz, Allergy Grocer is greatly missed by many, many people.
I have to recommend Gluten Free Trading Company at www.glutenfreetradingcompany.com
They have a fairly good selection of gluten free and some allergy free products. However, they do not compare with AG/Miss Roben's for the multi-allergy items selection.
I am quite upset about this turn of events!!!
I am desperately looking to find another supplier that has pre-made frozen soft pretzels! Allergygrocer.com had the best ones - and my 4 year old loves them! We just toasted the last one we had - and I'm so sad that I'm going to have to tell him we don't have them anymore to give to him. If anyone knows of where I can find them somewhere else, please let me know!
Hi Jo-Ann, thanks for your comment. Which allergens do you need to avoid? Would Kim & Scott's Pretzels work for you?
OH, NO!! I just went online to purchase the Miss Roben's soft pretzel mix for my son and I'm just learning the bad news. We buy the mix in mass quantity since he eats them twice a day, more if I would let him. He needs a gluten free substitute for soft pretzels, any thought?
Hi Anonymous, can you tell us which allergens you need to avoid? Thx.
My son is the little guy who eats the soft pretzels daily. He has celiac disease so he needs to avoid gluten. Thanks!
Yes, it did close. I did notice The Allergy Free Shop has come up when I type Allergy Grocer. This site is wonderful and seems to have so many products (over 2000 Allergy Friendly and Gluten Free) and content/information. go to www.allergyfreeshop.com
They also have an allergy filter tool and offer $9.88 flat shipping as I have ordered many times for that reason
The Allergy Free Shop www.allergyfreeshop.com does offer a great selection and does have $9.88 flat rate shipping. I would highly recommend.
Allergy grocer was a good site but I agree that Allergy Free Shop is a great alternative. There flat shipping rate is sweet. They also have a really good variety of products including mixes and I even noticed they have a few recipes.

I haven't tried any of them yet but I am planning to. Check them out I am interested to hear what other people think.
Solutions to Savor is now shipping nationwide! We have found a great soft pretzel mix by Dutch Country that is Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Egg Free, and Soy Free. Ingredients are Rice flour, cornstarch, tapioca dextrin, xanthan gum, sugar with a yeast and salt packet included. We are constantly adding new products both through our own research and customer requests so please visit us at www.solutionstosavor.com
they are opening up again!
Miss Roben's is now at www.AllergyGrocer.com - they seem to have all of the Miss Roben's products.
I also know that allergyfreeshop.com has a lot of products as well.
Miss Roben's and AllergyGrocer.com are alive and well. The company was bought by a doctor who's children have severe food allergies. The company was going out of business and Dr. Molin did not want to put his kids safety in the hands of an unknown company who's safety standards were not as stringent as AllergyGrocer.com and Miss Roben's.
I've actually spoken with him before as I was really concerned when I thought they were no longer around. The quality assurance is now even higher then it was before.
Hopefully, people will get the word that it is back. I don't really trust any of these other guys and I certainly don't trust my life with Wal-mart or any other giant retailer who is just trying to make as much money as possible.
Spread the word help this guy out. Miss Roben's and Allergygrocer.com are alive and well.
